I-17 SOUTHBOUND PAVEMENT PRESERVATION Sunset Point Rest Area to
Black Canyon City
What to expect:
|
Citations
Issued for Noncompliance of Mandatory Brake Check A
mandatory brake check for large trucks is set up on the frontage
road of Sunset Point Rest Area. Law enforcement personnel are
on site enforcing the mandatory brake check and will be issuing
citations to drivers who do not check their brakes. Please be
sure to plan time to stop at Sunset Point Rest Area during the
nighttime work hours between 8:00p.m. and 8:00 a.m. to perform brake
checks.
Nighttime
Pilot Car Use Extended Through August Crews will
continue to use pilot cars during nighttime work hours to lead
groups of vehicles down Black Canyon Hill through August. The
use of pilot cars ensures that vehicle speeds will be kept within
safe limits while one southbound lane is closed. The lane is
closed to allow room for excavation to continue on the east side of
the roadway. The excavation work is in preparation for paving
that is scheduled to begin later this summer. |

Please note: Changes to construction plans can happen
frequently due to weather, equipment availability and personnel issues. We
try to anticipate construction activities a week in advance but changes
may occur. Intermittent lane closures, with short delays, may not always
be known in advance.
